Requirements for the Major in Chemistry

39 hours required in Chemistry

  • General Chemistry I*   II*, Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry*, Organic Chemistry I*   II*, Instrumental Analysis*, General Biochemistry I, Inorganic Chemistry*, Physical Chemistry I*   II*
  • 2 Chemistry Elective hours for a B.S.
  • 6 Chemistry Elective hours for an American Chemical Society Certified B.S.
  • 1 year of calculus and 1 year of college-level physics must be completed prior to enrolling in Physical Chemistry
  • 3 years of high school or 1 year of college-level foreign language
  • Minimum of 45 General Education Electives: 6 h Inner Core for any two of science requirements, 3 h Inner Core for math and 3h Middle Core for quantitative analysis are included in CHE Core
